You know, that YSL COLLEGE BAG, they say it’s a real classic. I seen some folks carryin’ them around. Big, fancy bags, cost more than my whole house, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t one for them fancy brands. Give me a good, sturdy bag that can hold all my stuff, that’s what I say. But I hear these YSL things, they’re supposed to be somethin’ special. They call this one the COLLEGE, like it’s goin’ to school or somethin’.
They say the real ones, they got writin’ on the buttons. “SAINT LAURENT PARIS,” it says, all in big letters. And them letters, they’re all lined up nice and neat, like soldiers in a row. Supposed to be carved right in, not just painted on. If that writin’ looks messy, or too thick, then it ain’t the real deal. That’s what they say.
There’s different kinds of bags, you know. There’s some that look like the real thing, but they just look like it, they ain’t the real thing. They call them dupes. Then there are the ones that try to pretend they are the real thing, they are bad. These dupes, they’re cheaper, but they don’t try to fool ya. They don’t put the real brand name on ’em, just somethin’ that looks kinda similar. So, they ain’t breakin’ any rules, I guess. Just makin’ bags that look kinda fancy, but don’t cost an arm and a leg.
And they say these YSL bags, they’re cheaper over in Europe. Like in Paris. That’s where them fancy folks go. I heard them handbags are way cheaper there, like 20% cheaper or somethin’. That’s a lot of money! And for them tourists, it’s even cheaper ’cause they get some money back. Don’t really understand all that, but cheaper is cheaper, I guess.
You know, they call it YSL, and they call it Saint Laurent. Same thing, different name. Like when your neighbor Bessie goes by Elizabeth sometimes. It’s still Bessie. I heard they changed the name a while back, but it’s still the same company. Just like Bessie’s still the same old Bessie, even if she wants to be fancy and go by Elizabeth.

- Dupes are just look-alikes, not fakes.
This other bag, the Loulou, they call it. It’s another one of them YSL classic bags. Everyone wants one, they say. Comes in different sizes, small and medium. Like when you get a small coffee or a medium coffee. Just depends on how much stuff you gotta carry, I guess.
Seen some other bags that look like them YSL bags, but they ain’t them. They call them YSL Bag Dupes. This Quince, they got some that look kinda like the YSL COLLEGE BAG. They are cheaper. If you just want somethin’ that looks kinda fancy, but you don’t wanna spend all that money, that’s what you get.
One of ’em looks like that Loulou one. They call it the “Women’s Leather Large Capacity” somethin’ or other. It’s big, and it’s made of leather. Looks kinda like the YSL Loulou, but it ain’t the same. They got it on Amazon. Everything’s on Amazon these days.
This other one, the Tory Burch Kira somethin’ somethin’ bag. It’s a shoulder bag. Looks a little bit like the YSL Loulou Small Chain Bag. But again, it ain’t the same. Just looks kinda like it.
So, if you want a bag that looks like a YSL COLLEGE BAG or a YSL Loulou, you got choices. You can get the real thing, if you got the money. Or you can get one that just looks like it, for a lot less. Me? I’ll stick to my old bag. It may not be fancy, but it holds everything I need. And that’s all that matters, right?
These YSL bags, they sure are somethin’. All different kinds, all different prices. But at the end of the day, it’s just a bag. Just a bag to hold your stuff. You can remake these classic YSL bags, but the real thing will cost you. Don’t go spendin’ all your money on a bag, now. There’s more important things in life. Like family, and friends, and a good pot of coffee in the mornin’.
