What Makes CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Super RacingOfficial flagship store Stand Out?

Okay, so, I tried to copy the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing watch today, just like those guys selling them on the street. Here’s how it went down.

First, I grabbed some pictures online of the real deal, this fancy Speedmaster Super Racing watch. You know, the one with the black and yellow colors and the honeycomb pattern on the dial. It’s supposed to be some high-tech marvel with a special system that makes it super accurate. Looked pretty slick in the photos, with its stainless steel case and the whole sporty vibe.

Then, I started sketching out the design. I focused on getting the basic shape right – the 44.25mm round case, the three sub-dials, and the tachymeter bezel. I drew it all out on paper, trying to mimic the style as best as I could. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.

Next up, I needed materials. For the case, I found some cheap metal – definitely not stainless steel like the original, but it had a similar shine. I shaped it roughly using some basic tools I had lying around. It was way harder than I thought it would be. It also has the spirit of its three-register forefathers.

The dial was a real challenge. I tried printing out a picture of the honeycomb pattern, but it looked blurry and cheap. I even attempted to engrave the pattern onto a thin piece of metal, but that was a disaster. I ended up just painting it black and adding some yellow stripes with a marker.

For the hands and markers, I cut out tiny pieces of white plastic and glued them on. They kept falling off, so I had to use a ton of glue. It looked pretty messy up close, but from a distance, it sort of resembled the real thing, maybe.

The strap was the easiest part. I just took an old black leather strap I had and attached it to the case. It didn’t have the same fancy clasp as the original, but it did the job.

Finally, I assembled all the parts. It was a struggle to get everything to fit together properly. The “movement” inside was just a cheap quartz one I bought online – nothing like the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9920 that’s supposed to be in the real Speedmaster Super Racing.

The Result

  • Appearance: From afar, it kind of looked like the Speedmaster Super Racing. But up close, it was obvious that it was a fake. The materials were cheap, the details were rough, and the overall quality was just not there.
  • Functionality: It told the time, but that’s about it. None of the fancy features of the original were present.
  • Accuracy: Who knows? I didn’t even bother checking.

Honestly, the whole thing was a lot harder than I expected. It’s clear that making a real watch, especially one as complicated as the Speedmaster Super Racing, requires a ton of skill, precision, and high-quality materials. I have a new appreciation for watchmakers now. My knock-off was a total failure, but hey, at least I had some fun trying!
