Alright, so the other day I was browsing around, and I stumbled upon this watch, the OMEGA X-33 Marstimer. Now, I’m a bit of a watch guy, so I got curious. I first got wind of this Marstimer thing a while back, probably early this year. I mean, who hasn’t seen those pictures of astronauts walking around on Mars, wearing an OMEGA watch? Anyway, I decided to get my hands on one and see what the fuss is all about.
First thing I did was head over to the OB in Costa Mesa, CA. I remembered seeing an X-33 Marstimer there a few weeks ago, along with one of those fancy X-33 Solar Impulse limited editions. So, I went in, asked to see the Marstimer, and they brought it out. They are all about purchasing this watch. So I did it.
Getting to Know the Marstimer
Now, this Marstimer, it’s not your average ticker. It’s made for them astronaut folks, you know. It’s an “X-33” model, part of the Speedmaster series. Apparently, this “X-33” thing has been around for a while, but the Marstimer is like the latest and greatest version, from what I saw. It’s made outta grade 2 titanium, they say. Don’t know what grade 1 is, but this one sounds tough.
Time on Earth and Mars
The main thing about this watch is that it tells time on both Earth and Mars. Yeah, you heard that right. This new Marstimer, it does all that. ‘Cause a day on Mars is longer, you see. Not like here on Earth. I started messing around with the settings, and sure enough, there it was – Mars time. Pretty neat, huh?
Size Matters
Now, I gotta say, this watch is big. We’re talking 45mm. It looked huge on my wrist. I mean, I like a good-sized watch, but at 45mm the X-33 is probably too large for me to wear. Good wright up.
Final Thoughts
After spending some time with the OMEGA X-33 Marstimer, I can see why people are excited about it. It’s a real good watch, a classic style one. I reckon, if you got the money, and you like space and all that, this is the watch for you. It’s the best one. For me, though, it might be a bit much. But hey, if I ever decide to take a trip to Mars, I know what watch I’ll be wearing.
So, that’s my little adventure with the CopyOMEGA Ω X-33 Marstimer. Hope you found it interesting.
