So, I’ve been meaning to get my hands on this OMEGA X-33 Marstimer watch for a while now. I first heard about this Marstimer thing, I don’t know, maybe earlier this year? Anyway, I finally got one. This thing is supposed to be some kind of space watch, you know, for astronauts and stuff. I heard it’s tough and, well, not cheap.
First thing I did was just hold it, feel the weight. It’s made of this grade 2 titanium, which is supposed to be super strong. It feels solid, that’s for sure. Then I started poking around, checking out the design. It’s got this red hematite bezel ring, which I guess is supposed to remind you of Mars or something. It definitely looks different, that’s for sure.
The main thing I was curious about was the dual Earth/Mars time display. This watch can apparently track time on both planets. I started pressing buttons, trying to figure out how it all works. There are a bunch of different modes, and it took me a while to get the hang of it. Honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming at first.
- Tried different modes: Yeah, I messed around with the different modes. I found the chronograph, the alarms, and a bunch of other stuff I haven’t fully figured out yet.
- Figured out the buttons: The buttons are pretty responsive, but there are a lot of them. You gotta press and hold some of them to get to different functions, which is a little confusing at first.
- Checked out the design: The design is definitely unique. I’m not sure if I love it yet, but it’s growing on me. It’s definitely a conversation starter.
This OMEGA X-33 Marstimer is made in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). I guess that’s supposed to make it even more legit for space travel or whatever. I mean, I’m not planning on going to Mars anytime soon, but it’s kind of cool to think about.
I tried to give it a classic style. You know that CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the transparent case back? I wanted to see if I could make this Marstimer look anything like that. Spoiler alert: it didn’t really work. This watch has its own vibe, and trying to force it into a classic mold just doesn’t look right.
If you’re thinking about buying one of these, be prepared to spend some time learning how to use it. It’s not your average watch. It’s got a lot of features, and it takes a while to figure everything out. This watch, honestly, might look okay from a distance, but up close, it’s a whole other story. It’s complicated. But hey, if you’re into space and complicated watches, maybe this is the one for you. I’m still on the fence, but I’ll keep playing around with it.
My Conclusion For Now
This thing is complex. It’s cool, but complex. I’m still not sure if it’s worth the price tag, but I’m having fun trying to figure it out. It’s definitely a unique watch, and I can see why some people would be really into it. I guess I’m one of those people now. At least for now.
