Man, I’ve been eyeing the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso for a while now. It’s such a classic, you know? So, I finally decided to do some serious digging into the Reverso Tribute Monoface, especially after seeing they have an official flagship store.
First, I spent hours going through different articles and forums. I wanted to get a good feel for what people were saying. Turns out, this watch is a big deal. They say it’s a good investment and keeps its value, which is a relief because it’s not exactly cheap. It seems like it’s more of a grown-up watch, and maybe I’m at that point in my life, you know? But it’s not just for old-timers, people said it looks good with casual stuff too, like jeans and sneakers, which is totally my vibe.
I got really excited about the idea of using the Reverso as part of a two-watch collection. They introduced the watch and patented it in 1931, and it’s like a sports watch disguised as a gentleman. But the only way to be super sure it’s not a fake is to take it to a jeweler. The heart of this watch, the Caliber 822, is a hand-wound movement. It’s for the non-duoface models, and it’s pretty slim.
I learned that they just came out with a new, smaller size for the Reverso Tribute Monoface, which is cool because the original was a bit big for my wrist. This new one is 40.1mm long, 24.4mm wide, and only 7.56mm thick. That’s getting pretty close to the original’s size, so they’re really trying to keep that classic feel.
They use this caliber 822, which runs at 21,600vph. I found out that some people are saying that the prices for these watches have gone up, and they’re not really worth buying new. That’s a bummer, but I guess it’s the price of quality. From what I read, there’s also this other version with a silver, opaline face, which sounds pretty slick.
After all that research, I headed over to the official flagship store. I figured it was the best place to see the watch in person and maybe even try it on. The whole experience was pretty awesome. The store itself is super fancy, and the staff was really helpful. I finally saw the Reverso Tribute Monoface in the new size, and man, it looks even better in person.
I tried it on, and it fit perfectly. It felt really solid and well-made, and the design is just so clean and elegant. It really has that X factor, you know? It’s like it’s in the same league as those fancy VC and Patek Philippe watches. I ended up spending a good chunk of time in the store, just admiring the watch and chatting with the staff. I didn’t pull the trigger and buy it yet, but I’m definitely leaning towards it. It’s a big purchase, but I think it’s worth it for such a timeless piece.
Now I’m debating on whether I should take the plunge. It’s a big decision, but this watch is just calling my name. I think I’ll be dreaming about that Reverso for a while!
