Okay, so, I started this whole thing because I saw this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the small one, online. I thought it looked super classy and like, it would never go out of style. I fell in love with it and just had to make it.

First, I went to the official Prada site, you know, to check out all the different styles they have. They got crossbody bags, mini bags, bucket bags, handbags, and a bunch of other stuff. All of them in this nice Saffiano leather, which, by the way, is just genuine leather that’s been treated and embossed. It’s not like full-grain leather, which can be either chrome-tanned or vegetable-tanned, but it still looks great. I finally decided on the color and size of the bag, which is the “Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag” after looking at a ton of pictures and descriptions.

Planning and Gathering Materials

  • I spent hours looking for the right materials. I needed to find some good quality Saffiano leather, the kind that feels sturdy but not too stiff. I finally found a supplier online, and they had just the right color that matched the original bag.
  • Next, I needed all the hardware, like the zippers, buckles, and that little triangle logo thingy. I searched high and low for those, and let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. Finally, after checking a bunch of different craft stores and online shops, I managed to find everything I needed.

Cutting and Sewing

  • Once I had all the materials, I carefully measured and cut the leather. This part was a bit nerve-wracking because I didn’t want to mess up. I mean, this leather wasn’t cheap!
  • Then came the sewing. Oh boy, this took forever. I used my trusty old sewing machine, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. I made sure to double-check every stitch because I wanted it to be super durable.

Details and Finishing Touches

  • After all the main parts were sewn together, I added the hardware. This was the fun part because it really made the bag look like the real deal. I carefully attached the zippers, buckles, and of course, that iconic triangle logo.
  • Finally, I inspected every inch of the bag to make sure everything was perfect. I trimmed any loose threads, cleaned up any smudges, and admired my handiwork.

In the end, it took me a couple of weeks of on-and-off work, but I finally finished my very own remake of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It turned out even better than I expected! I’m so proud of myself for pulling this off. It’s not exactly like the one from the official store, but it’s pretty darn close, and it’s got that personal touch that makes it even more special to me.
