Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag for a while now. It’s a remake, and I’ve heard mixed things, so I decided to do a deep dive and see what the fuss is all about.
First off, I started digging around online, just to get a feel for the bag. I saw that it’s made of calf leather, and it’s got this gold-tone hardware that looks pretty fancy. They call it “Saffiano” leather, which I learned is a type of treated and embossed leather. Apparently, it doesn’t develop a patina over time, which is interesting. I guess that means it’ll keep looking new for longer, which is a plus. But this also means this leather has been processed by a machine, and it’s not quite the same as full-grain leather, which is kind of a bummer.
I also noticed it’s got these two rounded handles on the sides, and an enamel triangle logo, which is pretty iconic for Prada. Inside, there’s a logo patch, which is a nice touch, I guess. And obviously, it comes in black, which is classic and goes with everything.
Then I started thinking about the price. Man, these bags are expensive! Even more than some of those fancy LV ones. I mean, I get it, it’s Prada, but still. I thought maybe I could find a used one online, or as they say, “pre-owned.” Sounds much nicer, right? But then, I read somewhere that Prada bags don’t really hold their value, which is a bit of a letdown. But they’re apparently well-made, so there’s that.
I even looked into the prices of Prada in Italy, ’cause I heard they might be cheaper there. And you know what? They are! But I’m not planning a trip to Italy anytime soon, so that’s not really an option for me.
After all this research, I decided to take the plunge and actually go see the bag in person. I went to the Prada store, and there it was, in all its glory. It’s definitely a beautiful bag, I’ll give it that. The leather feels nice, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. The size is perfect, it’s called a “micro version,” but it can still fit all my essentials. I tried carrying it around the store a bit, and it felt comfortable.
But even after seeing it in person, I was still on the fence. It’s just such a big purchase, you know? I mean, it’s a beautiful bag, and it’s definitely a statement piece. But is it really worth the price? I’m still not sure. I took some pictures and decided to sleep on it.
