Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this PRADA bag for a while now, the Galleria Saffiano one, medium size. It’s just so classic, you know? Perfect for everything, really.

First off, I gotta say, finding the right materials was a whole thing. I mean, you can’t just use any old leather. It has to be that Saffiano, the one with the cross-hatch pattern. Went to a bunch of stores, felt a lot of leather, almost gave up, but finally found the perfect match. It was not cheap, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Then came the cutting. Man, that was nerve-wracking. I traced out the pattern pieces from the original bag, which I carefully took apart. One wrong snip and the whole thing could be ruined. I think I held my breath the entire time I was cutting. Measured twice, cut once, as they say, right?

  • Got the leather all cut out.
  • Nailed the cutting part.
  • Time to start sewing!

Sewing was… an experience. My sewing machine’s seen better days, honestly. But we made it work. Stitching the panels together, getting those corners just right, it took forever. And the handles! Don’t even get me started on those. They’re reinforced and have all these layers, it’s crazy.

Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. It was actually looking like a bag! I added the lining, which I picked out a nice, sturdy fabric for. And the hardware, oh man, finding matching hardware was another adventure. But I managed to snag some that were pretty darn close to the original.

Finally, after what felt like ages, it was done. My very own “remake” PRADA Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. Now, it’s not perfect, mind you. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and maybe the lining isn’t as smooth as it could be. But you know what? I made it. And I’m pretty proud of it.

The Result

It’s a pretty good replica, if I do say so myself. It feels good, it looks good, and it holds all my stuff. Plus, I learned a ton about bag making in the process. Would I do it again? Maybe not anytime soon. But it was definitely a fun and rewarding project. And hey, now I have a “PRADA” bag without the “PRADA” price tag!
