So, I’ve been eyeing this Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG for a while now. It’s a real beauty, but the price tag? Oof, it made my wallet cry just looking at it. But I really wanted it. So I thought, “Why not try to remake it myself?” I’m not a professional or anything, but I do enjoy a good DIY project from time to time. And today, I am going to tell you the whole story about how I got it done.
First things first, I needed to figure out what I was getting myself into. I went online and did some digging. I found out that the newer models of these bags have three letters and ten digits separated by a dot for their serial numbers, while the older ones have a 12-digit serial number split in the middle by a dot. It is important that I should pay attention to this.
Then, I started gathering materials. The real deal is made of some fancy leather, but I opted for a more budget-friendly option. I also needed some hardware, like the CASSANDRE swivel closure thingy. I’m pretty sure I saw something like that at the local craft store. After getting all the materials and tools ready, it’s time to really start.
I began by sketching out the design. I’m no artist, but I managed to draw something that resembled the bag. Then, I made a pattern. This took a bit of trial and error, but eventually, I got it right. Next, I cut out the leather and started sewing. Man, sewing is tough! My fingers were sore, but I was determined to see this through. My hands were really exhausted. But it’s more difficult than I thought. I have to be really careful about the small details when sewing different parts together.
After hours of work, I finally finished the bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. I even added my own little touch – a custom lining. I felt so proud of myself! The closure was the trickiest part, but I made it work. It is really important to have “SAINT LAURENT PARIS” engraved on the buttons in capital letters, which made me crazy.
