This here Patek Philippe Calatrava 5227R-001, it’s a fancy name for a watch. They say it’s a remake, like they’re making it new again. I seen a lot of watches in my day, but this one, they sure talk it up. It’s like the Cadillac of watches, I reckon. They call it a quote, which I guess means they tell you how much it costs. Probably more than my old cow Bessie was worth, that’s for sure!
Now, this watch, it ain’t just any old thing you strap on your wrist. They say it’s got a diameter, like a circle, of 39 mm. That’s like, I don’t know, bigger than a quarter, I suppose. And it’s 9.24 mm high. Not too thick, not too thin, just right maybe. Like a good pancake. And it can go in the water, they say, up to 30 meters. That’s deep! Deeper than our well ever was, that’s for sure. Don’t go swimming with it though, you might lose it!
They made a whole bunch of these Calatrava watches, they have. Over the years. Folks like to collect ’em, like them old stamps my grandson used to mess with. Especially the old ones, they call ’em “vintage.” Those are the ones that cost a pretty penny, I tell ya. Like them antique plates my sister used to have. Worth a fortune, they were.

Real tiny, like a bug’s eye. They say it beats 28,800 times an hour. Faster than a hummingbird’s wings, I bet. And it can run for 66 hours without you winding it. That’s longer than I can go without a nap these days!
It has something called a Gyromax balance, whatever that is. Sounds important though, like the balance in your checkbook. Better keep that straight, or you’ll be in trouble! This Patek Philippe is a fancy thing, that’s for sure. Not like the old Timex I used to have. That thing took a lickin’ and kept on tickin’, as they say. This one here, though, it’s more for show, I think. Like them fancy folks in the city with their fancy cars and their fancy clothes.

They say you can compare prices and buy one there. Fifty of ’em, they got! That’s a lot of watches. More watches than I’ve seen in my whole life, I reckon. They got these “tags” too, whatever those are. Patek Philippe and Calatrava, those are the tags. Like the tags on a cow’s ear, I suppose. So you know what you’re gettin’.

Me, I’m happy with my old clock on the wall. It tells the time just fine, and it don’t cost an arm and a leg. But hey, to each their own, as they say. If you got the money to burn, and you like fancy watches, then this might be the one for you. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you drop it in the well!

They say this Calatrava 5227R-001 is special. I guess it is. For a watch. I still think it is a little bit of a waste of money. You can get a good watch for much less. But, some folks like expensive things. That’s just how the world is, I think. Always have been this way.
