Alright, so I saw this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the large one, and I thought, “Hmm, that’s a classic style, might be nice to have something like that.” It’s got that simple look, you know? Not too flashy, but still looks good. And it’s got those handles, so I could carry it however I wanted. Plus, it had that little Prada triangle, which was kind of cool. So, I started thinking about how I could make one for myself. I mean, why not give it a shot, right?
First, I went online and looked up a bunch of pictures of the bag. I needed to see it from every angle, get a good look at all the details. I zoomed in on the stitching, the hardware, how the lining looked. Took a bunch of screenshots. I wanted my remake to be as close to the real deal as possible. I’m not a professional or anything, but I’ve done some sewing projects before, so I figured I could handle it.
- I measured out my bag. I grabbed some leftover leather I had and started cutting out the pieces. I used a big ruler and a rotary cutter to make sure all the lines were straight.
- I cut the front, the back, the sides, and the bottom. Then I cut out smaller pieces for the pockets and the handles.
- Next up, it was time to start sewing. I put two pieces of leather together and stitched them up on my sewing machine. I did this for all the main parts of the bag. It took a while, and I had to be really careful to keep my stitches neat and even.
- I got a zipper and put it on. The original one has a zipper for the middle compartment, so I did that too.
For the handles, I cut out some long strips of leather, folded them in half, and stitched them together. Then I attached them to the bag. I also added some metal rings to the sides, just like the real Prada bag has. I found some similar-looking ones at a local store.
The trickiest part was probably the lining. The Prada bag has a really nice fabric lining, so I found some black fabric I liked and cut it to fit inside my bag. I had to hand-sew most of the lining, which was kind of a pain, but I got it done.
And then, finally, I was done. It took me a few days, working on and off, but I had my very own Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag remake. It wasn’t perfect, of course. There were a few little things that I could have done better, but overall, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It had that classic look, just like the real one. And the best part was that I made it myself!
It may not be a real Prada, but it’s my Prada, and I’m proud of it.
